Respected Friend, Mr. R.Venkataraman,
Last year when I visited Hyderabad to talk on Science & Miracles at the Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology, I interviewed the Gowda family who were treating Asthma by making the patients swallow a fish! I collected from them the old news paper clippings in one of which it was claimed that the Late President of India, Babu Rajendra Prasad and the internationally known Heart Surgeon Dr. Cherian and his wife visited them and were cured of their Asthma. My investigations there lead me to the fact that one of the senior members of the Gowda family was himself admitted in the intensive care unit and had to be treated for Asthma in the Hospital.
To verify these claims I wrote to you whether Mr.Rajendra Prasad was an Asthma patient and whether he visited the Gowda family at Hyderabad and was cured of his asthma. These could be verified from the diary of the Late President. But you did not acknowledge my letter nor reply me. When such claims appear in news papers it is the duty of the office of the President to tell the truth to the people of India. I wish you will kindly see that I am replied.
The cause of this letter is the news in the Indian Express of 17.12.1989 about your visit to Puttaparthi to attend the convocation of the deemed university of Satya Sai Baba, and your comments on his educational system.
In this article it is mentioned that you visited Puttaparti for the first time. You had arrived there at 10.10 a.m. and left at 1.30 p.m. Upon arrival at Prasanthinilayam you were closeted with Satya Sai Baba for an hour. You had to attend the convocation, and also visited various departments there. You also listened to a taped lecture on the functioning of the human anatomy and circulatory system while observing the same in a model prepared with electronic mechanism. You sat with the godman for more than half an hour during lunch. In between you met the press wherein you hailed the education system adopted in the institution and felt the need for spreading the system all over the country. You informed the press that it is a unique institution, educationally, culturally and spiritually. You said that your visit to Puttaparthy had served a good purpose - of studying the educational system there. That Sai Baba explained to you the education on moral values system adopted in the Satya Sai Institutions. You did all these within 3 hours twenty minutes!
I am pointing all these to show that you didnot have any time to study the educational system of Satya Sai Baba. Can the first citizen of India, our President give such a certificate without really studying the system? One can know whether the system is working or not only by studying the students who come out of the colleges run by Sai Baba as to how his educational system has helped them to face the problems of life and living. Surprisingly you never examined even a single student of the university. When there are several cases pending against Satya Sai Baba, and when there had been several murders in his ashram and educational complex which the law enforcement department have closed the files with the single note "SUICIDES", without explaining how they came to such conclusions I am wondering how you could be neutral by visiting Satya Sai Baba and hailing him. You have the responsibility to explain how you came to the conclusion that the education system adopted in the Sai Baba's institutions are unique educationally, culturally and spiritually.
Waiting eagerly for your explanations.
